London Day 2

First stop today was St. Paul's Cathedral. The trio made it up to the top of the Dome by climbing 530 steps. The view was amazing and made the climb worthwhile. Protesters reported to be in the thousands were actually only about 20 tents. News reports that St. Paul's was closed down for the first time ever, was false because the Cathedral was planned to be closed for The Trafalgar Ceremony.

Buckingham Palace was our next stop. Debbie and Lisa are going back to Buckingham Palace on Saturday to watch the changing of the guard.

We then went on a leisurely stroll up the "Mall" towards Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. Trafalgar Square was ruined by an NFL Fan Rally. The the famous lions were covered and you could hardly see them. BOO!! The Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Bucs are playing at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Bill was attacked by a bunch of Tony Romos'. We stopped in a pub "Tom Cribb"(English bare knuckle champion) for a lunch break. We had fish and chips and beef and ale pie. Very British! We were just like one of the locals.

Our next destination was Parliament Square. We saw Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. We planned to see Westminster Abbey, but found out when we got here that is was closed for a special service.

Next we toured the Cabinet War Rooms and the Churchill Museum. It was very interesting.

We took the tube back to our hotel, rested for a few minutes and headed out for dinner. We found a great place just a couple blocks from our hotel, The Green Door. We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful dinner with our best friends. We then came back to the hotel to blog, have a night cap and plan our day for tomorrow.

..............and this is London. Good night and good luck.
